Pag Pag Logline: The ghost of a grandmother comes back to heal the rift between her young grandson and his single, overworked mother through the magic of cooking.

We shot Pag Pag last year, and now need help with Post Production. It's been a journey watching my story about a Filipino family come to life. It's also been amazing to see a Fil-Am kid on screen, one who understands Tagalog, but speaks English back to his Lola, like I did. This is a story about the relationship between a kid and his Lola, but it's also a story about how food, the cooking of it, the gathering around it, the celebrating of it, is how we connect to each other. Please help us connect with more people, help us get this short film out into the world.

We're so close to the finish line, but need some extra help. Can you support us? We'd like to get this out into the world by September of this year. We have several goals, to showcase it in festivals that are Oscar qualifying, so we can win and submit Pag Pag for the Oscars, and I also plan to pitch it as a TV series or feature. Tom and I already have several execs who want to see it. We'll eventually put this up on a streaming service, but the first two goals are priority for us right now.

Anyone who donates will be included in the Special Thanks of the film. Those who donate $500 or more will be given Associate Producer credit.

Written and Executive Produced By Wallaine Sarao

Wallaine Sarao is a drama, sci-fi/genre writer. Wallaine was recently on the CAPE List (Black List) with a feature called HONEY. She writes both features and TV.

Wallaine grew up with a crazy religious mother and a father who loved to play the slots. While they argued, she watched one movie over and over: Stand By Me. She really related to the character Gordy. She was obsessed with a character who felt like an outsider in his own family, but was also someone who used stories to escape reality. That's mostly why she writes stories about outsiders and complicated families.

She also loves focusing on stories re: mental health, especially in the Asian community because she wants to continue to add to the conversation of mental health. She thinks it's a conversation that we need to have openly and frequently.

She graduated from USC’s MFA Screenwriting program in 2007. Her feature PAST DUE won the Cynosure Grand Prize in 2009; she was in the FOX Writers Program in 2010 and the Black List Features Writers Lab in 2017. Lastly, as mentioned, she was on the 2021 #CAPEList.
