Pathways for Peace Project

Honor the past. Build unity in Christ.

Pathways for Peace is a community-based, Christ-centered initiative led by Moore Grace Ministries to honor the lives of the formerly enslaved and to build lasting connections among churches across the Charlotte–Mecklenburg area.

Across multiple colonial-era church sites, many burial grounds of the formerly enslaved remain overlooked. Together with partner churches and community leaders, we are creating a memorial gateway—a sacred place for remembrance, prayer, education, and reconciliation.

Right now, we are focusing on the site at Providence Presbyterian Church in partnership with Matthews Murkland Presbyterian Church. Based on historical research, community dialogues, and design workshops, the memorial will stand as a visible sign of love and truth—inviting all who visit to remember those who went before us and to walk toward unity in Christ.

“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” — Ephesians 4:3

Your impact:

Honor & remembrance: A visible, welcoming place to remember at least ~200 buried at the site.

Unity & discipleship: Christ-centered gatherings that cultivate lament, empathy, forgiveness, and beloved community.

Education: Programs for churches, families, and students to learn and heal together.

Donations of $100 or More Will Also Receive A Copy of Ricky Moore’s Soon-to-be-released Book “The Father’s Business: A 90 Degree Perspective”

We are excited to announce that Rev. Ricky Moore will be releasing his first published book in the spring of 2026, and YOU can receive a free copy with your support of Pathways For Peace. The book is about how the Lord Jesus' perspective was and is different from what people tend to have about the "things" that matter in life. The prophet Isaiah was inspired to write about the uniqueness of God's perspectives to the nation of Israel when he penned: "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:9-10). The book doesn't just point out the uniqueness of God and our perspectives, it illustrates how (because of Jesus) anyone can know God's thoughts and His ways about the "things" that matter to Him and to them in real time.
