Paying It Forward is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2021 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with the mission of creating a Hungry-Free Lancaster. What began as a simple act of service—sharing food and essential items with neighbors in need—quickly grew into a movement of compassion that now touches thousands of families each year.

Our work focuses on addressing food insecurity while also meeting other vital needs such as toiletries, clothing, and school supplies. We accomplish this through signature community events, including our annual Back to School Giveaway, which provides over 3,000 backpacks filled with school supplies, and our Christmas Extravaganza Fundraiser, which brings families together with food, activities, and resources during the holiday season. We also support the community throughout the year with food distributions, clean-up initiatives, and outreach programs that restore hope and dignity.

What makes Paying It Forward unique is the personal connection we foster with those we serve. We believe in building relationships, not just providing resources. Every initiative is designed to uplift families, strengthen community ties, and remind individuals that they are not alone. Our approach combines grassroots service, strong partnerships with local businesses and volunteers, and a deep commitment to equity and compassion.
