Mission

Postpartum Peace of Mind is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that centers the experiences, health, education and safety of Postpartum Women of Color. We are dedicated to providing equitable, community-focused care, resources and education for Black, Brown and Indigenous postpartum Mamas at no charge to them or their families.

Vision

Everyone Women of Color will have community, safety and peace of mind during their postpartum journies.

Our Why

A CDC study recently found that 80% of pregnancy-related deaths are preventable, with these rates being higher in some states. In the United States, educated, higher-income Black women are more likely to die during childbirth or postpartum than their Caucasian counterparts of a lower education and socioeconomic level. Our organization fully believes that systems have been designed around the manipulation and mistreatment of the Black & Brown body but SYSTEMIC CHANGE (while absolutely needed) IS A SLOW PROCESS. COMMUNITIES have the ability to bridge the gap between subpar medical care and the lives of our Black & Brown women. We do this work to:

Eliminate barriers to care and resources and mitigate the stress that comes with those barriers
Equipt communities (families, friends, coworkers, community birth workers, etc) with the tools they need to create change in hospital rooms and in research related to Black, Brown and Indigenous women
Build communities for Mamas who do not have them

We Need Your Help

We all know that Black & Brown women are dying of pregnancy-related complications (if you didn't know, you do now). Did you know that there are women who cannot afford to buy bras and panties after having their babies? Did you know that some women have to choose between diapers for their babies and sanitary napkins for themselves? Imagine not having transportation for your 6-week doctors appointment and experiencing postpartum depression alone. We need your help. Your support can make the difference between a Mama thriving in her postpartum journey, a Mama surviving her postpartum journey or a Mama succumbing the her postpartum journey. We can't ask Mamas to prioritize their mental health and physical recovery when they can't afford their groceries. We need your help.
