Hello, my name is Madison, and I am the Operations Coordinator for Perfect Pair's National Team. My work with Perfect Pair is incredibly meaningful to me, and I appreciate your support as we create authentic intergenerational connections. My pair, Mary, and I met for the first time in April of 2021, and since then, we became best friends. Mary means an incredible amount to me, and my visits with her were always the highlight of my week. It was a privilege to have Mary in my life, and she impacted me in more ways than I could have ever imagined. We spent our time talking about some of our common interests like the cities of Michigan, our relationships with nature, and mindfulness practices, but we also had the best time catching up on our lives, exploring the human condition, and introducing each other to our friends. She was an impressive mentor to me, and I am so grateful to Perfect Pair for allowing our paths to cross. I hope all young adults have the chance to build a relationship with an older adult special as Mary. Mary passed away in January of 2024. Her recurring reminder to “honor life’s unfolding journey" pushes me to continue to my work for Perfect Pair, hoping to enable connections as special as the one between Mary and I. I have had many roles in this organization, and in each position, I get to see the incredible impact Perfect Pair has on the many communities we serve. Yet, there is an immense amount of work still to be done. Social isolation is a serious challenge for many residents of senior living communities. Over half of all seniors in assisted living have no visitors. These are some of the reasons I ask you to support our program as we continue to work to make a difference.
