🌿 About Me

My name is Paul Odiwuor Ogola, and I am a permaculture educator, designer, and community leader from Homa Bay County, Kenya. For the past nine years, I have dedicated my life to transforming both landscapes and lives through regenerative agriculture.

I am a husband and father of five, and I believe that the real solutions to poverty, hunger, and climate change already exist in our hands — in the way we care for our soil, our water, and one another.

🌱 How My Journey Began

My journey into permaculture began when I was trained by Steve Jones of Sector39 (Wales, UK).

In 2016, I traveled to Uganda to complete a two-week Permaculture Design Course (PDC) — an experience that changed everything.

For the first time, I truly understood that by combining ancestral wisdom with modern design, we can create abundance right where we are. I returned home determined to share what I had learned with my community in Kawiya Village.

👨‍🏫 Founding PermoAfrica Centre

After coming home, I began teaching my neighbors how to capture rainwater, restore degraded soil, and grow food sustainably. From those early demonstrations, PermoAfrica Centre was born.

I officially registered PermoAfrica Centre as a Community-Based Organization (CBO) approved by the Government of Kenya, located in southern Kawiya Village, Rangwe District.

For eight years, the Centre has become a vibrant learning hub offering practical permaculture education for farmers, youth, teachers, and marginalized groups.

Our work focuses on:

2016 – Unlocking the Secrets of Permaculture

Completed my PDC in Uganda and founded PermoAfrica Centre.

2018 – East Africa Permaculture Convergence (Bidi Bidi Settlement, Uganda)

Lead trainer for South Sudanese refugees in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council.

2023 – Community Empowerment

Conducted a full PDC at PermoAfrica Centre, certifying 25 new teachers now spreading regenerative practices across Kenya.

2024 – International Permaculture Convergence (IPC15), Taiwan

Presented “Unlocking the Secrets of Permaculture,” joined a soil-regeneration symposium in Hsunchi City, and connected with organic farmers in Taromak Village.
