Philanthropy 101

๐ŸŒŸ Empower Minds, Transform Futures: Give Twice with Philanthropy 101 ๐ŸŒŸ

Join us as we inspire the next generation of compassionate leaders through the Oakwood Schools Foundation's Philanthropy 101 program. Your support makes a double impact!

What is Philanthropy 101? Juniors and Seniors enrolled in Wall Street 101 at Oakwood High School are eligible to participate. In mid-November, as part of โ€œCharity Weekโ€, students split into groups to learn more deeply about local area philanthropies through interviews and site visits. For their class final, the students then present to a group of community judges to compete for a cash contribution that is donated to the charity of their choice. The program has a lasting impact on the student and fosters the spirit of charity and philanthropy.

๐Ÿ“š Educate for Change: Philanthropy 101 empowers students with the knowledge and skills to understand the profound impact of charitable giving. Sparking a sense of social responsibility, we mold future leaders who value and champion philanthropy.

๐Ÿ’ธ Give Locally, Impact Globally: Your generous donations not only fuel the education of young minds but also directly contribute to local charities and nonprofits. Every dollar you contribute is a vote for your favorite charity to be considered as a participant in our Philanthropy 101 program for the 2024-25 school year. 5 charities will be selected by students in the fall of 2024.

๐Ÿค Double the Joy of Giving: Experience the joy of giving twice - first by nurturing young minds committed to making a difference, and second by channeling your contribution directly into the hands of local organizations striving to create positive change.

ABOUT PHILANTHROPY 101:

Philanthropy 101 was founded in 2014 by former Oakwood Schools Foundation trustee Joel Frydman. The competition continues to inspire Oakwood students to consider the impact and importance of charitable giving.

OSF deeply appreciates ongoing financial support from the Angela & Joel Frydman family, Johnson Investment Counsel, and Abby & Robert Wagner, with additional support from Jessup Wealth Management and The Dayton Foundation.

We would also like to thank Lee & Patti Schear, Kurt & Lisa Sanford and Johnson Investment Counsel for their support of the Philanthropy 101 endowment which seeks to sustain this special program for years to come.
