About Philanthropy 101

Philanthropy 101 was founded in 2014 by Oakwood Schools Foundation Trustee Joel Frydman. After its first decade, the competition continues to inspire Oakwood students to consider the impact and importance of charitable giving. In mid-November, Juniors and Seniors enrolled in Wall Street 101 at Oakwood High School split into groups to learn about local area philanthropies through interviews and site visits.

For the class final, students present to a group of community judges. Cash awards for organizations are determined based on these final presentations and your donations. This program has a lasting impact on students and seeks to foster the spirit of charity and philanthropy.

The Oakwood Schools Foundation supports and enhances the education of Oakwood students through scholarships, grants, program, and capital enhancements.

The Oakwood Schools Foundation was founded in 1981. To date, more than $1,000,000 has been granted from the Foundation to support students in the Oakwood Schools.
