Help Us Sustain Treasure City Thrift!
*** Updates made on this date 02/05 at bottom
Hi y’all, here are a few updates from collective members of Treasure City regarding our re-location. With the support of volunteers, workers, and community members we moved our whole store and inventory to our new building in late September. Since then we’ve been waiting on the new landlord to collaborate with the city to finish the updates to the building and get a certificate of occupancy. At the moment, we’re waiting on a meter from the city in order to have electricity and water at the new space on Cameron Road. After that, a new HVAC system will be installed. The city will need to do a final inspection in order to give us the certificate of occupancy.
We do not have exact dates yet as to when we will be ready to operate again as so much is not in our hands. We predict our opening will be early 2026, if all goes well. We will definitely keep you all updated as soon as updates come in!
In the meantime, we’ve spent almost all of our savings on furlough pay for employees at Treasure City, as we strongly believe that our workers deserve to be taken care of, particularly in this political climate. We’ve been able to continue that furlough pay up to this point, but now we are looking to the community for support for the next couple of months as we’re waiting for the new building to be ready. It feels important to us as a worker collective to prioritize covering our workers wages as our store closure didn’t leave much room for our staff to find other forms of income & employment.
In order to keep Treasure City running after 20 years, we are needing further external support. Back in March we were able to raise $23,383 with y’all’s help. All of the funds went toward our security deposit ($8,738), moving costs ($1,350), and wages, utilities and monthly expenses (10k).
As a small collective, we are needing and asking for material support to invest in the livelihood of our workers as this in turn supports the organization as a whole. We hope to continue to provide accessible goods and a community space to many. Your support would help us sustain the future of treasure city for years to come. Our goal is $7,200 to provide pay for our workers through the next two months. Thank you for all of your support!

Your donations so far have helped us cover two pay periods for our workers! Thank you all for your support y'all, truly. As far as our building updates go: We now have working electricity & water in the building! We have a lot of work to do in the new store but we are beginning the process ~ we still need our certificate of occupancy to operate and will keep y'all updated as matters unravel!
