Doors Open Dishes is a 501c3 committed to keeping the doors open to the group homes and workshops of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. We partner with chefs across the city to create dishes inspired by an individual at one of these programs, with the proceeds from that dish directly benefitting their program.

 

On Tuesday October 8, 2024, we are planning to host our first-ever fundraiser—a seated, multi-course dinner, featuring some of our chef-client partnerships to-date. We will use the funds we raise to address the often-overlooked dental care needs of the disabled community—an initiative we are pursuing through the Susan Schnitzler Happy Faces Fund, an extension of Doors Open Dishes that we created in honor of our late mother—a nurse and advocate for the special needs community.
