NOTE - For championship game only, no time limit, no run limit 4. Sportsmanship: Teams, or any player, engaging in any behavior that the tournament director deems to be “unsportsmanlike conduct” will be removed from the tournament immediately at the director’s discretion. Fans and players watching games must refrain from commenting on umpire’s calls. Failure to comply will result in the non complying fan or team’s removal from the tournament. Captains are responsible for monitoring fan behavior. If that monitoring becomes difficult, the captain shall seek the assistance of a tournament organizer. 5. Umpiring: Teams will umpire their own games. Captains will settle all disputes over calls. If they cannot come to a resolution, the team captains settle the dispute via best 2 out of 3 rock, paper, scissors. The time limit for each game remains 25 minutes and is not adjusted for disputes. The home team will be determined by a coin toss. 6. Equipment: All bats and balls used during the tournament will be supplied by Purple Monkey Project. They may not be altered in any way. All shoes will be flat-soled (no cleats, turf shoes, spikes, trail running shoes, etc.). 7. Pitching: All pitches must be slow and have an arc on them. (An arc is defined as: the ball, after release, reaching a point higher than the point of the pitcher’s release.) No sidearm pitching will be allowed. A pitcher who deliberately refuses to throw legal, hittable pitches after a reasonable period of time may be cited for “stalling”, which will be treated as a sportsmanship violation. 8. At Bats: Balls and strikes are determined by the Strike Zone Pitch Targets. Batters may strike out swinging (including foul balls on the third strike). Batters may choose not to swing at any pitch. Batters must have both feet in the batter’s box through the conclusion of each pitch. 9. Pitcher’s Hand: All force plays on the batter going to first base may be made to the pitcher, provided that the pitcher is in contact with the pitching rubber (e.g. the pitcher cannot field a ball at 2nd base and it be considered a force out at first base). This rule is only applicable for the pitcher - no other fielder may record a force out by possessing the ball in contact with the pitching rubber. The runner may also be put out by force at first base. All other force plays must be made to the bases or to home plate. 10. Infield Fly Rule: There is no infield fly rule. 11. Dropped Third Strike: There is no dropped third strike. Batters who strike out cannot reach base. 12. Stealing and Leading Off: Baserunners may not lead off. Baserunners may not steal bases. Runners leaving their base before the batter makes contact with the ball will be ruled out. 13. Fielders may throw the ball at runners. Runners struck with the ball below the neck will be ruled out. Runners hit below the neck with a thrown ball which first hits any player, a base, or the ground, or anything else will be ruled out. The ball remains live if a runner is hit with a ball while on the base. 14. Runner/Ball Contact: Base runners in contact with a base that are hit with a batted or thrown ball will be ruled safe. Base runners between bases hit with a batted or thrown ball will be ruled out. 15. Home Runs: All batted balls landing over the designated home run fence in fair territory, will be home runs. If a defensive player makes contact with a batted ball and then that defensive player lands outside the field of play (i.e. over the fence), that is a home run. This rule is intended to foster player safety. The batter and all base runners must touch all bases — in proper order — after a home run. 16. Mercy Rule: If after the second inning, a team leads by seven runs or more, the game will be over. 17. Extra Innings: All batters will start the inning with two strikes. The player making the last out of the previous inning will start at second base.
