The PTA is a proud supporter of the 7th Grade Poetry Residency and of the Annual Poetry Slam for all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

One of the multitude of student activities that the BHMS PTA has supported through the years is the 7th Grade Poetry Residency and the annual BHMS Poetry Slam for all 6th, 7th and 8th graders. PTA funds allow the 7th Grade ELA classes to bring in a professional poet/teaching artist to delve a little deeper into creating imagery with language to help the students in writing poetry and telling other kinds of stories.
As students prepare for the annual Poetry Slam that takes place every spring, our student poets have the opportunity to hone their original writings and develop their personal spoken-word style with the help of a professional poet in several after-school coaching sessions. These coaching sessions are paid for with PTA funds.
We need your financial support to keep both of these opportunities available to students.
