IMPORTANT UPDATE AS OF JUNE 24, 2022
Abortion is now banned in Alabama. But we aren't going anywhere!
We will stay open as long as we can pay the bills & utilities - all of our staff are volunteers. Being next door to the abortion clinic for 7 years has given us an advantage - people who have accessed abortion care at RHS know we exist - and we know how to help them. Navigating abortion care is hard - especially having to go out of state to do so. Our volunteers have years of experience in working inside of abortion clinics, some are founding members of abortion funds, we've helped patients through practical support since our founding in 2015, and we've done mutual aid (free Plan B, condoms, lube, pregnancy tests, hand sanitizer, masks, and more) in our community for the past 3 years.
Want to support us to help our fellow Alabamians? Donate to us so we can keep our doors open to help all Alabamians seeking the abortion care they need out of state. Additionally, we are now accepting donations of Plan B, condoms & pregnancy tests. Mail donations to: POWER House, Attn: Mutual Aid Department, 821 South Perry Street, Montgomery, AL 36104. WE KEEP US SAFE! Thank you so much for all you do to help us assist our fellow Alabamians.

(Outdated info below as of 6/24/22)
The POWER House, located in Montgomery, AL, is next door to one of the 3 remaining abortion clinics in the state of Alabama. We operate as a prochoice community space in several ways. The house is run by the escorts for Reproductive Health Services, and serves as a base of operations for escorts, patients and their companions when the clinic is open. Because many patients must travel from far away to come to the clinic and already face numerous financial barriers, we allow them to stay overnight at the house (at no cost to them) in order to meet Alabama's 48 house waiting period. On procedure days, patient companions are welcome to wait on their loved ones at POWER House since the clinic is limiting occupancy due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the house is set up just like a "normal" house that you can relax in. We provide snacks and water to patients and companions throughout the week as well.
We also operate as a community space for other grassroots organizations who may not have a space of their own. In addition, we have mutual aid for our community, providing bleach, hand sanitizer, emergency contraception, condoms, pregnancy tests, menstrual products, masks, and other supplies to those who need it, no questions asked & free of charge. We work on policy goals in the Alabama Legislature with our friends and allies at Yellowhammer Fund & Montgomery Pride United to ensure all Alabamians can exercise their rights without governmental interference, and sponsor important social justice rallies throughout the year.
