Fresh food in 100 Elementary Schools?!? Let's GROW!
Grow. Learn. Eat. - since 2013, Independence Gardens has championed these simple concepts to ensure ALL children have access to #freshfood. Food that fuels their day in schools across our community and supports their overall life success.
Studies have shown that a hungry and malnourished child affects school performance.
Food insecurity impacts the rise of obesity and diabetes.
...And - how action based, hands on learning, like edible outdoor learning spaces, improves academic performance.
Welcome to Independence Gardens.
Our collaborative approach provides EVERY child, regardless of socio-economic status, engaging, meaningful, and transformative nutrition education experience that is Action based, Playful, Passionate, Leadership focused, and Engaging.
The Apple Project, Beanstalk Project, and our signature event Come and EAT IT are experiential, foster and develop life skills in children including self-esteem, decision-making skills, healthy eating habits, leadership and love of community.
