Pregnancy and Postpartum Psychosis (PPP), also known as postpartum psychosis, is a serious mental health condition that can affect women during pregnancy or shortly after giving birth. This condition is characterized by a rapid onset of severe mental health symptoms, including hallucinations, delusions, extreme mood swings, and confusion. While the exact cause of PPP is not fully understood, certain risk factors, such as a personal or family history of bipolar disorder or previous episodes of postpartum psychosis, may increase the likelihood of developing this condition. Individuals and healthcare providers must recognize the early warning signs of PPP, seek prompt medical attention, and provide comprehensive support to ensure the well-being of affected individuals and their families. It is estimated that one in every five hundred perinatal women experience PPP. We aim to raise awareness, educate, and prevent tragedies from this terrible illness.
