Light the Future Foundation is a registered nonprofit, community-based organization in Uganda focused on educating children and fighting childhood hunger and malnutrition. Founded by Ssenyondo Patrick in the Ugandan village of Namayumba, Light the Future Foundation seeks to respond to both the immediate and long-term needs of children in this area, many of whom have been orphaned by war and disease.

Immediate goals include covering the costs of school tuition and healthcare for up to 50 needy children in the village. To offset the cost of tuition, the foundation has acquired farmland and is producing food.

Uganda is a nation in which 30% of children suffer from malnutrition, 5% die from preventable diseases before their 5th birthday, and 12% of girls become mothers while still teenagers themselves. In Namayumba, 85% of adults cannot read or write. However, Uganda is also a nation in which young visionaries like Ssenyondo Patrick are striving to make a difference and have a positive impact on the health and well-being of the children of Uganda. Current board members of Light the Future Foundation are Mr. Ssenyondo Patrick, founder and executive director, as well as Mr. Kyagera Mwesiga, Dr. Amy House, and Mr. Dave Bruns. A U.S. support organization has been created to help support the foundation, Ignite the Future Inc. This organization is applying for 501c3 tax-exempt status.
