Story
Trinity Habitat for Humanity partners with people in our community to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteer and pay an affordable mortgage. Each year Presbyterian churches in Tarrant County come together to fund an entire Habitat home and volunteer building it!
Tameka Black - Future Habitat Homeowner
Tameka currently lives in a small efficiency with neighbors who are inconsiderate of one another, and does not always feel safe when walking to her apartment. She is excited that she will longer have to get a hotel for her daughter and family when they come to visit, and that her grandson will have plenty of space to play when he stays with her.
Tameka's daughter grew up in Como and her father still lives there so she is looking forward to moving back and being part of a community where everyone can come together and help each other during times of need.
Tameka works at John Peter Smith Hospital, is investing 200 sweat equity hours in place of a down payment, and will pay a 30-year, affordable mortgage and property taxes.
"I am very thankful to Habitat for partnering with me to help make this possible. Thank you to the sponsors and volunteers for your time and willingness in helping build my home. I look forward to getting to know you."
