Frisco, Texas is the fastest-growing large city in the United States according to a 2020 analysis from the Census Bureau (over 71% population growth between 2010 and 2020 with an estimated population of 220,000 for 2022).
30% of our population is under 18 years of age, and over 50% are parents. There are over 66,000 students in Frisco ISD. A 2022 Gallup poll stated that 1 in 5 from the Gen Z population identifies as LGBTQIA+, which lies at the intersection of other historically marginalized groups including but not limited to the disabled, neurodiverse, and gender-expansive communities.
While Frisco is ethnically diverse and economically vibrant with corporate relocations and a strong workforce, it lacks any meaningful LGBTQIA+ support, especially for our youth and their families. Pride Frisco was founded to address this unmet need.
The needs of our LGBTQIA+, disabled, neurodiverse, and gender-expansive community revolve acutely around youth and their families. Outside of Pride Frisco, there is literally nothing in terms of LGBTQIA+ resources, competent professional support, and affirming, safe spaces for our community to exist and support each other.
Although Frisco is in our name, we realize that we provide LGBTQ+ support for surrounding communities such as Little Elm, The Colony, Celina, Prosper, as far west as Lewisville, and as far east as Allen—a large geography with unprecedented population growth.
