The literacy work we do at the Mariposa DR Foundation is essential to break the cycle of generational poverty in our community. After years of being unhappy with the options for primeros lectores books due to students not seeing their language and culture represented, the Mariposa team decided it was time to make our own. Thus, the Mariposa Primeros Lectores series was born.

Using familiar words makes them fun and easy to read, and students read about things they see in their daily lives. They are written, designed and created by the growing family of The Mariposa DR Foundation and its supporters. The series is illustrated by Mariposa programs graduate, Detiny Mejia.

Our first edition of the book series includes 10 titles and a matching memory card set. By reaching our $30,000 goal we'll be able to give 1,000 sets to schools in our community at the start of the year.

El trabajo de alfabetización que hacemos en Fundación Mariposa es esencial para romper el ciclo de pobreza generacional en nuestra comunidad. Después de años de estar descontentos con las opciones de libros de primeros lectores, debido a que los estudiantes no veían representada su lengua y cultura, el equipo de Mariposa decidió que era hora de hacer la nuestra. Así nació la serie Mariposa Primeros Lectores.

La serie Mariposa Primeros Lectores es un enfoque innovador centrado en la República Dominicana y diseñado específicamente para el nuevo lector. El uso de palabras familiares los hace divertidos y fáciles de leer, y los estudiantes leerán sobre las cosas que ven en su vida diaria. Están escritos, diseñados y creados por la creciente familia de la Fundación Mariposa y sus partidarios. La serie está ilustrada por la graduada de los programas Mariposa, Destiny Mejia.

Nuestra primera edición de la serie de libros incluye 10 títulos y un juego educativo de memoria.
