United Way of North Central Pennsylvania is the local administrator for Project Lifesaver International. Designed for individuals who are at risk of wandering due to cognitive disorders, the program provides wearable tracking devices and works closely with trained local first responders.
Last year, United Way of North Central Pennsylvania directly supported 24 individuals, including 13 new participants, and provided more than $5,200 worth of safety equipment. A $15,000 grant from the High Foundation helped bring total program funding to $22,000. Project Lifesaver is expanding into Tioga and Sullivan Counties and has engaged over 10 first responders in training sessions. This initiative directly enhances the safety of vulnerable individuals and brings peace of mind to their families.
