THE PROMISE OF PLAY

Bronx native, actress Maggie Siff and clinical therapist Paul Ratliff came to Drama Club united in their belief that our programming could offer at-risk New York City youth an exceptional experience of care. Maggie understood from deeply personal and professional experience how theater arts and improv provide powerful self-discovery and expression, connection with community, and positive affirmation. Meanwhile, Paul's career familiarized him with the Science of Play, peer-reviewed studies demonstrating how play expands neural pathways for growth and healing, which have become cornerstones of Drama Club's curriculum and mission.

Paul passed away from brain cancer in December 2021. As we celebrate ten years of Drama Club by honoring Maggie for her decade of exemplary board service, we gratefully acknowledge Paul's equally incredible contributions to Drama Club. Without their many gifts, Drama Club would not be what or where it is today.

Drama Club is thrilled to launch The Promise Of Play Fund which will fuel the ongoing success of Drama Club's play-centered programs and operations. Every gift to this fund is a grateful nod to the original champions of this work, Maggie and Paul.
