Antiracist Protester Legal Support.
We are continuing to support our brave comrade, JJ, who is currently incarcerated for counter- protesting violent white nationalist and alt right militia members in San Diego. Their trial is going through appeal, and battling many hurdles to get their freedom back.
JJ has been an activist, an advocate for human rights for over a decade, fighting tirelessly for others all over the country. From 2021 to 2024, they fought a long winded legal battle against the San Diego District Attorney, a case with chilling implications for leftist activists everywhere. They were sentenced to two years despite having zero criminal history and a non violent charge.
We're accepting donations to help with the ongoing legal battle and to keep JJ and co defendant Brian Lightfoot commissaries full. Your donations make a massive difference as we fight this injustice and work towards correcting the legal precedent set by this trial. Previous Fundraiser: Thank you all for your continued support. Unfortunately, both JJ and co defendant Brian have become political prisoners. This fund is now for the appeals process and their commissary. Appeals can take up to 1 to 3 years but we will not stop fighting this. This cannot be the new precedent for protesters. Legal Fees Needed to Defend From Biased Prosecution!
An antiracist protester is being prosecuted unfairly by right-wing DA Summer Stephan for defending San Diego from violent Proud Boys and members of American Guard, a hate group the ADL deems "hardcore white supremacists".
The DA has not even accused this protester of committing any violent crimes. Instead he is being charged with "conspiracy" because he showed up as a medic to a protest where other Black Lives Matter protesters fought with violent white supremacists. This is guilt-by-association. The defense team will expose the holes in the DA's case.
Summer Stephan, who infamously ran a campaign website featuring antisemitic conspiracy theories about "antifa" and George Soros, accepted campaign donations from the President of the same violent hardcore white supremacist group who form her key witnesses in this prosecution of so-called "antifa members".
Defendants are being railroaded by a corrupt DA who has long maintained cozy connections with white supremacist groups. These white supremacists have attended the DA's campaign events and have even donated to her campaign.
If successful, this biased prosecution poses a dangerous legal precedent across the entire country. The DA has withheld key evidence in this case and there has already been one motion to disqualify her office from the prosecution due to bias. The defense team is working pro bono but significant legal expenses are still adding up. Every dollar helps!
