Can you help chip in $3 or more to send Laura Escobar to compete in the 2023 North American Youth Chess Championship in Mexico City next month!?

When we found out Laura (center left in photo, seated) was going to participate, but was having trouble raising the travel costs, we said the absolute least we could do was create a campaign for her!

After all, this is the same Laura who led FOR FREE an eight-week workshop this past summer for 25 girls with Madison Brown. When we asked them then what compensation they'd require, they said NONE! It's for the girls!

It's the same Laura who is one of the top three rated female players in the state of Indiana, and only 14 years old! The sky is her limit!

It's the same Laura who we are planning our 2024 girls' chess event series with, who again wants no compensation!

We asked her mom this morning for the cost breakdown, and she said ANYTHING helps. They aren't expecting all of it, but here's the total cost:

Flights: $1,690 (economy)
Hotel: $478 (six nights, they are staying in a cheaper place than the tournament hotel)
Registration: $140
Food: $400

ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of your donation will be passed on to Laura's family by reimbursing their travel expenses (minus the credit card fees this site automatically takes out of the donation). Indy Chess is not earning from this campaign even one cent.

Every $3 help a new Hoosier neighbor represent not just our state, but girls and all youth in what was once a game reserved for royalty.
