PUPPETS ACROSS THE POND
The Dunworth Foundation is excited to announce that we're planning a study abroad trip: Puppets Across the Pond. The focus of this trip is to provide ongoing education for adult students of puppetry. Puppets Across the Pond is tentatively scheduled for the second half of this year. The goal of this fundraiser is to help offset some of the costs for our travelers, including lodging, train and bus fare, and food costs.
During our 2 weeks abroad, we plan to visit a number of excellent puppeteers and puppet theaters. These visits will enable our travelers to gain new perspectives and skills about their craft, and allow for idea sharing between professionals who might otherwise never have met.
Here are some of the locations and puppeteers/theaters we propose to visit:
- Reykjavik, Iceland: Bernd Ogrodnik
- Scotland: Scottish Mask and Puppetry and Manipulate Arts Puppetry
- Norwich, England: Norwich Puppet Theater
- London: Little Angel Theater
- Devon: Poulton Puppets
- Bristol, England: Samuel Wilde
- Wales: Harlequin Puppets
- Penrith, Cumbria: Upfront Arts Venue
This trip will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our travelers to make connections with other puppetry professionals and to learn and grow as performers. Please consider making a donation.
