Even When Life Changes Everything, Our Table Stays Set for Second Chances

Last December, my life—and Carabelle’s Legacy—changed in an instant. A kitchen accident severed every tendon and nerve in my dominant hand, leaving me with nearly two years of recovery and the reality that I’ll never regain full function. As a chef, a leader, and a survivor, I’ve faced setbacks before—but this one struck at the heart of how I serve my community.

Because of this injury, I haven’t been able to pursue the catering events that keep Carabelle’s Legacy thriving. As a result, our nonprofit is now $100,000 behind our 2025 growth goals. For a grassroots, survivor-led organization, that’s a huge gap—but not an impossible one, if our community comes together.
