Story
The Broussard Enterprise Group, LLC. is a startup business structured and formed as a limited liability company in the State of Louisiana. Operations have begun in January of 2022. The Broussard Enterprise Group, LLC. is serving as a managing firm to manage a nonprofit organization entity, currently named as Youth Leadership Initiative Project. Youth Leadership Initiative Project is a nonprofit organization structured under the 501(c)(3) guidelines in the State of Louisiana.
The idea for the nonprofit organization first began in 2012 when I, CEO Brent P. Broussard, was working with the Our Lady Queen of Peace church youth group as a Coordinator. In that time, I served as a principal mentor and advisor to the young men in the group and felt the urging need to expand my work outside of the church youth group. I began conducting research as to what the vision of my idea for starting a nonprofit was, which was to mentor the youth within the Northside Lafayette community and giving these youths, many of them at risk youths, a chance to be successful at life by providing them with the necessary skills and tools to help them as they discover what their dreams are in life and what professions they were thinking of getting into upon graduation from high school . In 2015, I conferred with a friend of mine at the time that had the same type of vision for at risk youth. We then began to collaborate to build a nonprofit, in which was to be named Young Unique Prodigies. My business partner and I attended meetings with the Small Business Development Center at University of Louisiana- Lafayette to confer with them to see what we needed to get our idea off the ground and working to help the youth succeed. After holding on to the idea of starting this nonprofit organization for several years, in October 2021 I enrolled in the Accelerate Northside program through the LEED Center and UL Lafayette. While sitting in one class during the 6-week entrepreneurial program, we were discussing business plans and how to form the plan for our intending businesses, I had the “A-HA” moment. The idea of starting Youth Leadership Initiative Project was reinspired. Upon completion of the program, I have now started focusing on getting this long-standing passion project off the ground and serving the at-risk youth that I am looking to work with and provide the youths with the necessary life skills to be successful and productive citizens in the everchanging world we live in today.
