Our Mission

The Artemis Bass Initiative is dedicated to advancing the careers of women and nonbinary bassists through mentorship, orchestral training, and professional development. We believe in fostering a more inclusive and diverse classical music landscape—one where all bassists have equitable opportunities to succeed. 

The Challenge

Despite progress in gender representation within the arts, women and nonbinary musicians remain significantly underrepresented in professional orchestras and leadership roles. The double bass, a traditionally male-dominated instrument, presents unique challenges for those breaking barriers. Without access to mentorship, professional training, and financial support, many promising musicians face roadblocks in reaching their full potential.

Our Impact

Through our programs, we provide bassists with the tools they need to succeed:

Mentorship Program: Personalized guidance from established professionals who offer career coaching, audition preparation, and industry insights.

Orchestral Training Program: High-level instruction and performance opportunities designed to prepare musicians for professional careers.

Seminar Series: Exclusive workshops and discussions addressing key topics such as navigating auditions, performance anxiety, and career sustainability
