Help Support the QSC Community Cats

There is a population of unowned cats living around the QSC office buildings. These are community cats, meaning they live outdoors and are not socialized to people.

Without spaying and neutering, cats reproduce quickly. A single unspayed female can have three to four litters per year, with an average of four to six kittens per litter. Over time, this leads to a rapid increase in population.

Why this matters:
• Many kittens do not survive life outdoors
• Adult cats often face illness, injury, and ongoing stress
• The population continues to grow without intervention
• Challenges increase for both the cats and the surrounding community

Trap-Neuter-Return, or TNR, is a humane and widely supported approach to managing community cat populations.

How TNR works:
• Cats are safely and humanely trapped
• They are taken to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered and vaccinated
• After recovery, they are returned to the area they know

The result:
• No more litters
• Reduced mating behaviors
• Healthier, more stable cats
• A population that naturally declines over time

Not all community cats can be adopted into homes. Many are feral and are most comfortable living outdoors. TNR allows them to remain in their environment while preventing the cycle of reproduction from continuing.

Helping OC Cats is working to support the cats at the QSC office area through spay and neuter efforts and ongoing care.

The Cost:
In partnership with the spay & neuter clinic through Helen Sanders CatPAWS TNR program, their $150 Community Cat Package includes:
• Spay or Neuter
• FVRCP+Rabies Vaccinations
• Flea Treatment

Your support helps provide:
• Spay and neuter surgeries
• Vaccinations
• Humane trapping and recovery

Even a small contribution helps prevent future litters and gives these cats a chance at a healthier life. Spaying and neutering just one cat prevents dozens of future births, your support makes that possible. These cats didn’t choose this life, but together, we can make it better.
