Our Children and the Power of Music is a special fundraiser breakfast supporting the Youth Musical Arts Academy of North Port (YMAANP)—a nonprofit founded by North Port native Michael Alegria, whose own life was transformed through music education.

YMAANP exists to Create, Inspire, and Transform our community through music. Since its founding in 2024, the Academy has already made a meaningful impact by awarding more than $2,500 in private lesson scholarships, offering a community Youth Choir for local students, and donating instruments to children in need through a partnership with the North Port Symphony.

This year, YMAANP is ready to take its biggest step yet—launching a new Elementary Summer Band Camp designed to serve at least 60 local students. The two-week camp will welcome children entering 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, giving them the opportunity to learn flute, clarinet, trumpet, or trombone under the guidance of certified music educators from our area.
