Adult Literacy - Learning to Be More

Reading, writing, and mathematic skills are lacking for many American adults.

  • A study in 2017 indicated over 32 million American adults are considered reading illiterate (BrandonGaille.com).
  • Another research indicates "Twenty-one to 23 percent — or some 40 to 44 million of the 191 million adults in this country [America]— demonstrated skills in the lowest level of prose, document, and quantitative proficiencies" (Adult Literacy in America, Kirsch, Jungeblut, Jenkins, & Kolstad, 2002).

Routes to Knowledge is an adult learning program in the Broward County, Florida area for low-economic adults, 17 years and older. We work with them to increase their academic and employability literacy skills.

Your donation will help us expand and improve our adult learning program and team. Due to COVID-19 we had to transition to online, sooner than anticipated. The benefit is that we can have learners from anywhere, local, national, or international. Our goal is to reach as many under-served adult learners as possible.

Your donation will increase our outreach and support adult literacy, aiding in developing employable adults. Be a change in your community.
