South Bay Sustainable Communities

Giving Tuesday 2023

What an amazing year of clean-ups, nature hikes, community workshops, school presentations, community composting, and our Youth 4 a Sustainable Program (Y4SF) in 11 schools, Mueller Charter and Coronado School District. Students from our Y4SF Program are educating the community about reducing food waste and keeping it out of the landfill. Since beginning Y4SF almost 2 years ago, students have diverted over 63K pounds of food waste from the landfills, of which rescuing over 57K pounds of edible food which went to feed our community. In total, Y4SF students have prevented over 42K pounds of GHG emissions from going into our atmosphere. Y4SF students leaders in civic engagement and speaking in front of city councils and boards about sustainable actions that should be implemented.

Our latest project is bringing sustainable regenerative farming to our community with a Community Orchard, demonstration garden and community compost site on our 2.8 acre farm in South SD.

With your support, we will continue to educate the community about creating a sustainable lifestyle and reducing the impact on climate change for a healthy and sustainable future.
