Did you know that in rural Cambodia, the majority of youth are still at high risk for early marriage, trafficking, and illegal labor?

During the Khmer Rouge genocide of the 1970s, 1.5-3 million people were killed and educated individuals were targeted. As a result, the country continues to be affected and has had to rebuild from the ground up. Today, many parents in our community did not have the opportunity to go to school and the rural families we work with are unaware of career opportunities outside of their community. Consequently, many of them do not value education. Youth are often pressured to drop out of high school to earn money for their families or to get married.

This perpetuates the cycle of poverty in rural Cambodia and Siem Reap, the region where we work, is one of the poorest provinces in the country despite being the hub for tourism.

By supporting PEPY Empowering Youth, you can help break the cycle of poverty once and for all! Our team provides youth ages 14-35 with comprehensive personal and professional development through our education and business programs. We are a team of local Cambodians, working tirelessly for all youth to realize their potential, complete their education, and find sustainable employment to support their families and contribute to their communities.

We support approximately 1,000 youth a year in 5 districts and have impacted over 100 villages.
