Earlier this year, Pali High suffered devastating damage and losses in the Palisades Fire. The fire tore through the school, leaving classrooms destroyed and students without essential spaces for learning. Students and faculty returned to online classes, where they all spent 1.5 years during the pandemic.
Over 500 students and 11 staff members lost their homes. In addition to those in the immediate fire zone, students travel to Pali High from 100+ ZIP codes across Los Angeles. Over 25% qualify for free and reduced lunch. All lost in-person access to their campus, friends, teachers, extracurricular activities, and their daily sense of normalcy.
On April 22, almost 2,500 students and our staff celebrated our move to a temporary facility in Santa Monica that was built out and outfitted in record time. The costs have been extensive, but it was critical to have our students and teachers together in person. As we look forward to moving back home to our campus and reopening in January, your donations continue to keep us moving forward.
This GivingTuesday, your tax-deductible donation to our Raise Pali campaign directly supports our recovery efforts. With your help, we know that Pali High and our community will rise again. Please spread the word and thank you so, so much.
