We have a couple of important updates for you: PAYMENT METHODS At the fundraiser, we will be selling raffle tickets for incredible raffle bundles thanks to many outdoor/cycling/local organizations. We will also have official RAR merch for sale, including some items that are sold out on their website. Some of the items we have are in limited supply so grab ‘em while ya can! We’ll be accepting cash, Venmo or Givebutter as forms of payment. Tickets can be purchased at the door if you have a friend that’s interested in joining! DONATIONS If you make a donation of any size, you’ll walk away with a very cute spoke card commemorating this event! If you made an additional donation in your original ticket purchase, you can pick it up when you check in at the registration table. SCREENPRINTING We’ll have a screenprinting station open for about an hour. Here’s your chance to try out something new - we’ll have folks to help walk you through the whole process. Please bring a tshirt/fabric scraps/etc. (or purchase one from Old Spokes Home or the RAR merch table!) with you to create a custom screenprinting design unique to this event! PHOTO BOOTH We’ll have a photo booth backdrop that some community members helped design for you and your twin (aka your bike)! There will be some polaroids for purchase if you’d like a physical photo to capture this magical event. Lastly, we really appreciate all of your support and excitement as we kick off the riding season. The money we raise at this event will help keep rides and events that our chapter hosts as low cost and accessible as possible. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at [email protected]. See you tomorrow! - Kel, Deb, Sequoia, Cedar & Erica ——— The Radical Adventure Riders (RAR) Champlain Valley chapter is throwing a party to kick-off the riding season, and the theme is “Dress Like Your Bike”! This event will be a fundraiser for our chapter and a night of bike-themed fun for the community. We will have live music from Baby Fearn and the Plants, as well as a photobooth, DIY screen printing, and raffle items. The fundraiser is open to all identities, and will take place from 4-7 pm on Sunday, March 31st at Old Spokes Home (331 N Winooski Ave in Burlington). The event is BYOB. What is Radical Adventure Riders, you may ask? RAR is a movement towards gender inclusivity and racial equity in cycling and the outdoors. Our chapter became official in 2023, and was formerly known as Queen City Bicycle Club. Most of our programs are for femme/trans/women/non-binary people (FTWN-B), but our goal for this event is to spread the word about our chapter and form new allies and partnerships, so it is open to everyone. In general, our programming ranges from casual rides, to open shop nights, to beginner-friendly bikepacking trips. Tickets are $10 and we encourage folks to purchase in advance so we can properly plan our kick-off event for you! We appreciate any additional donations on top of your ticket purchase. If you're not able to attend but would still like to support, you're still able to donate! If the cost to entry is a barrier to you and you would like to join us, please e-mail us at [email protected]. We will be donating a percentage of our proceeds to Native Women Ride; a community of Indigenous relatives riding on Mother Earth, educating about the land and raising awareness of issues impacting Native communities. Your donations will help expand our vision of making cycling adventures accessible. Our chapter is completely run by volunteer organizers, but there are expenses associated with our programming. In order to make sure our events are accessible to all, our chapter covers as many costs as possible for attendees, ranging from food to ferry tickets to necessary bike repairs. Thank you for supporting our mission! Our community appreciates your donations and excitement for our new chapter, it means the world to us. We can't wait to ride with you soon.
