If you’ve ever had the privilege of truly knowing a refugee, you’ve likely heard that word: hope. It’s spoken with quiet strength and fierce determination. Because for refugees, hope isn’t abstract—it’s deeply personal.

Hope is a safe place to rest without fear.

It’s a warm meal shared around a table filled with laughter and love.

It’s watching their children board a yellow school bus—on their way to an education that once seemed impossible.

It’s the freedom to celebrate faith, speak their truth, and honor their traditions.

It’s the right to exist fully, freely, and without apology.

But more than anything, hope means finding home.

This campaign is about fueling that hope. Together, we can make it more than just a word. We can help turn it into reality for the thousands of refugees living in our region.

I have spent my entire career working alongside immigrant and refugee communities, helping people find a sense of safety and belonging as they rebuild their lives.

I’ve listened as refugees have shared stories no one should ever have to live through—stories of war, persecution, and unimaginable loss. I’ve witnessed the aftermath of the worst humanity has to offer.

And yet, through it all, they carry an abundance of hope. It’s that hope that keeps me going. Because if they can imagine a better world, then so can I.

My hope today is that you’ll join me. That you’ll step up and say: we belong to each other. That you’ll choose compassion, and share in our collective humanity. Give what you can, share where you can.
