Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story is a 74-minute documentary film about food waste and food rescue by Silvapark Films in partnership with British Columbia's Knowledge Network. Filmmakers and food lovers Jenny Rustemeyer & Grant Baldwin explore issues of food waste, from farm to retail to their fridge. After seeing the billions of dollars of good food that is tossed each year in North America, they pledge to quit grocery shopping cold turkey and survive only on foods that would otherwise be thrown away.

Roughly 133 billion pounds of food go uneaten each year in the United States, according to the USDA. Blemished berries get discarded at the farm, and warehouses toss food that's no longer perfectly fresh. Then about half of wasted food gets thrown out by consumers buying, cooking, & serving more food than they can consume.

Featuring interviews with acclaimed authors Tristram Stuart and Jonathan Bloom, Just Eat It looks at our obsession with expiration dates, perfect produce, and portion sizes. It brings together farmers, retailers, and consumers in a story that is both education and entertainment.
