As a huge thank you to all our Red Barn Rhythm Section donors, we are hosting an end-of-season outdoor party! We will have a full stage in the backyard behind the barn by the pirate ship, kegs of Pfriem beer, lawn games and lots of good vibes. The event is open to all Rhythm Section members and their significant others and kiddos, so please make sure you RSVP by clicking the link in the upper right hand corner of this page and let us know how many folks will be joining you.

The Music

Ian George

We are stoked to announce that the event will feature a headliner set by Ian George and the Knee Pockets. We've had our eye on Ian's work for almost two years now since his 2024 release (A FAIR) and his upcoming 2026 release featuring collaborations with folks like Dean Johnson and Anna Moss, two other incredible artists we've been coordinating calendars with for future Church of Music performances. We will also a handful of surprise performances from some our very own Red Barn Rhythm Section community.

Ian George & the Knee Pockets are a subtly explosive and peculiarly adventurous band delivering the sort of concert you’ll likely dance, sway, sing, laugh and probably cry too. There is one motive: ALLOW A GOOD TIME

The performance teems with whimsicality, clever arrangements - interrupted by triumphant tangents - and outlandish solos grounded by George’s emotive and gauzy voice and by the simple strength of a good song. Expect an engaging and dynamic haul of gentle and not so gentle folk-rock adventures. Think: if Radiohead and Dr. Dog had a baby....and you added some of the edgier Neil Young style electric guitar work.

The Holy Goat Stringband

This PNW under-the-radar side project is a collaboration between Garett Brennan, Ben Larsen, Duncan Galvin and Jon Neufeld (Martha Scanlan, Jeffrey Martin, Dolorean, Jackstraw). Born in the red barn itself out of a handful of late night pickin' sessions over the years, their set will feature a collection of GB's original tunes and a handful of oddly chosen traditionals and covers.

Surprise Rhythm Section Guests!

Yep, many members of our very own Red Barn Rhythm Section are actually musicians themselves! So we will also be featuring a handful of these talented folks on the main stage who are excited to share their craft with this amazing Red Barn Community.

Food & Drink

For drinks, we will have a couple kegs of beer from our friends at Pfriem and a collection of bubble waters. We will not have a food truck this year so please plan ahead and bring your own picnic and any other drinks/snacks you think your crew will want.

Misc

You can think of the thank you party as a little "micro-fest"....so bring a blanket, water bottles or low back lawn chairs to enjoy the tunes and picnic vibe in the backyard. (Also, no dogs please)

Parking

We will have plenty of bike parking onsite, but no car parking. So if you drive, please park in the usual spot across the street in front of the horse fence or at the Westside Elementary School parking lot down the street (7 min walk to barn from school).
