Republic Day of Service

1st Annual Republic Day of Service will be held on Saturday, June 13.

Theme: One Town, One Community, One Purpose.

We are excited to share that the RepMO Rotary Club is organizing the 1st Republic Day of Service on Saturday, June 13 and are seeking project ideas from community organizations we value and support.

The purpose of this Day of Service is to partner with local organizations on meaningful, hands-on projects that address real community needs.

This day is modeled after other community days of service across the nation where the entire community pulls together to perform acts of service throughout town on the same day. Our goal is first year is 130 participants and 10 projects.

Events like this take funding and coordination. We are starting small and hoping to grow annually. We do need additional sponsors. And we need partners in the community (churches, non-profits and other organizations) willing to discover, plan and fund their own group community service project.

Members of the RepMo Rotary Club will serve as site hosts, promote the day and work with sponsors to provide a kick-off event and then celebrate the success of the day.

Projects for the Day of Service (so far) include

  1. Our day begins at 9 a.m. at The Community Kitchen where we will “fuel” our day of service. Pick up your volunteer packet and t-shirt and attend a short kick-off event at the Community Kitchen.

  2. There are volunteer opportunities at the Community Kitchen for this breakfast. The public is always welcome to at the Community Kitchen breakfast for a free meal.

  3. Day of Service Sponsorships ($300 each) directly support the Community Kitchen and the Republic Youth Sports Equipment Library.

  4. Construction of two house disability ramps in Republic PLUS landscaping. These are day-long projects. Rotary Club Hosts: April Swanson and Carrie Miller. Partnership with Empower Abilities. 20 volunteers needed.

  5. Trash pickup along Hwy. 60 (3-5 p.m.). Republic Rotary Hosts: James Barwick and David Burton. Partnership with Republic Chamber of Commerce. 15 volunteers needed

  6. Various projects in Republic parks with Rooting Republic, details coming soon.

  7. Doing work for your immediate neighbors is considered volunteering (as is organizing an event with your neighbors on this day) and will be be recognized as part of the Day of Service. You just need to let us know your plan.

  8. If your church or organization is planning a service event on that day please let us know.

  9. Other possible projects at Dynamic Strides, Republic Senior Center, Republic Nursing Home, People Helping People, Republic Animal Shelter and Price Tag or Locker 518
