Right now, many of us are waiting with bated breath as the “maybe / maybe not” goes back and forth about the future of SNAP benefits. For thousands of families, that uncertainty means real anxiety about whether there will be food on the table next week.
At RestoreOKC, we believe this moment calls for both compassion and wisdom.
We want to meet the immediate need while also strengthening the systems that make our communities resilient for the long run.
We’re calling this effort a way to “win the battle and the war.”
The battle is immediate hunger.
The war is economic resilience.
When this crisis is resolved—as we hope it soon will be—any remaining funds will roll into our Food Justice Fund, which exists for moments just like this. When SNAP transitions to the state level in 2026, we expect bumps along the way, and we will be better ready to protect our neighbors from those shocks.
This is not an either/or moment.
It’s both mercy and justice.
Relief and restoration.
If you’d like to help us meet this moment and build long-term equity in our local food system, you can give directly to the Food Equity Fund here:
