I grew up in a family that sang together after dinner (even harmonizing!). My sisters and I made up stories and acted them out in our backyard and for our neighbors. I grew up in a country where art was truly a part of our everyday school life. 

Our family moved around a lot, but I always found a place and friends through making up plays or joining the drama club. 

Being creative and imaginative got me through many challenging situations including coming to a new country. 

As an educator and a parent, I witness the many challenges young people are facing today. I believe that the arts can help them get through these difficulties just like they did for me – Arts Corps provides a space where they can experience joy, affirmation, hope, and belonging through art making experiences.  I hope you'll join me in helping Arts Corps create that space for young people.
