Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio mails kids one free book each month until his or her 5th birthday. Any child in Ohio between birth and age 5 can sign up for this free program. Here in Ashtabula County, over 3,000 children are registered! Thanks to the Imagination Library, over 36,000 books are sent to families right here in our community each year.

Reading together is one of the most important things a caregiver can do to prepare a child for future success. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library fosters a love of reading and impacts not only a child's willingness to learn, but also strengthens bonds between a child and their caregiver, builds self-esteem, and develops empathy.

This year, we will be celebrating our new hospital enrollment program which will enable all Ashtabula County families to register before they even leave the hospital! Research shows that the longer a child is enrolled in the Imagination Library, the more impact the program has! With this change also comes the need for more financial resources. The Ashtabula County Community Action Agency serves as the local program partner for Ashtabula County and works locally to increase enrollment, make key connections, and fundraise to cover the cost of the books and postage. Your support will enable Ashtabula County Community Action Agency to not only provide books to currently enrolled children, but to grow and reach new families across the county.
