“Over a million beautiful, adoptable pets will lose their lives in 2024,” states Mike Arms, President and CEO of Helen Woodward Animal Center. “We all come from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, but together, we can raise our voices and share one life-saving message and literally save millions of pets on this one day.”

On October 3rd, we will host a luminary for the pets we love & the pets we've lost, at Azalea Park in downtown Summerville. Remember Me Thursday is a global event, and Dorchester Paws will be lighting up Summerville to express unity in the crisis of packed shelters across the world. This event allows us to #ShineALight on the importance of pet adoption, highlight the hundreds of homeless animals in our care, pay homage to how special beloved pets are to each of us, and raise much needed funds to support our lifesaving mission.

You are able to purchase a lantern in honor or memory of an animal that touched your life to be lit in a luminary walk around the Azalea Park gardens at our Remember Me Thursday event. Every dollar raised by lantern purchases does directly to the life saving care of animals in need at Dorchester Paws.
