Roads to Success (RTS) has been serving New York City children and youth since 2001 with fun, engaging (and educational!) after-school and summer programs. We have built a reputation as a caring, trusted community partner among the 7,000 children, youth and families we serve annually, all of whom reside in some of the most underserved neighborhoods across NYC. We support teens with summer employment opportunities and expose them to career ideas through internships and workshops held in collaboration with our corporate partners. We support older youth with pathways to college through campus visits to get them excited, and application support to get them accepted.
RTS focuses on academic support, social-emotional learning, workforce skills, financial literacy, and post-secondary orientation. Operating in 30 schools across all grade levels, RTS provides three distinct programs: RTS CREATE for ages 4-12, RTS EXPLORE for ages 12-14, and RTS DISCOVER for ages 14-21. These programs emphasize positive youth development, college orientation principles, and future readiness.
Rooted in areas with high need, including Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx, RTS partners with designated Community Schools to combat absenteeism and improve academic performance. The organization's commitment to anti-racist practices is reflected in its diverse staff, reflective of the populations served. Through culturally responsive curricula and inclusive practices, RTS creates a safe, equitable, and supportive environment, fostering self-esteem, empathy, and academic success.
