Veterans Radio is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to all the men and women who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces of the United States of America.

Our mission since 2003 has been to advocate for veterans, provide education for veterans and their families, and illuminate the extraordinary actions of ordinary people who have preserved the freedom all Americans enjoy—and the ultimate price that is often paid.

Veterans Radio includes our listener’s stories and experiences, not only while in the service, but afterwards as well. Interviews with guest speakers and authors are a weekly feature.

Guest Speakers

Doug Bradley

Doug was drafted into the U. S. Army in March 1970 and served as a combat correspondent at U. S. Army Republic of Vietnam (USARV) headquarters near Saigon in 1970-71. Following military discharge and graduate school, Doug relocated to Madison where he helped establish Vets House, a storefront, community-based service center for Vietnam era veterans.

Doug has blogged for PBS’s Next Avenue and The Huffington Post, taught at UW-Madison, Baldwin Wallace University, Edgewood College, and Arizona State University, and is the author of three books grounded in the Vietnam experience and co-author (with Craig Werner) of We Gotta Get Out of This Place: The Soundtrack of the Vietnam War which Rolling Stone magazine named "the best music book of 2015."

Jon Bernstein

Jonathan Bernstein is the Curator of Arms & Armor Collection at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Jon joined the NMMC as the Arms & Armor Curator in August 2020 after helming the US Army Air Defense Artillery Museum for eight years prior.

He has written six books and several articles on military and aviation history, the majority focusing on the applications of tactical airpower in the European Theater during World War 2. His latest book, (and his third on the P-47 Thunderbolt), “Duel: P-47 vs German Light and Medium Flak” was released in October 2021.
