As a pediatrician I see children every day in my practice. Most days consist of doing well visits, checking and reassuring mild illnesses. But some days stick with you, when you are concerned a patient has a serious illness. I have had to tell two patients in my practice that their child had cancer. I can tell you the day and time I received a call about a patient ct results showing a brain tumor and I can tell you the day and time that I reviewed labs that showed a child had leukemia. Thankfully both those precious babies are doing well today but will have long term side effects from their treatments. Many children don't have the same outcome and I saw several during my 3 years of residency. I still have a finger painting from one of my patients from my second year as a pediatric resident. I can still here her yelling Dr. P get my out of my crib. She is forever 3yo and now and angel among us. WE can help make a difference by donating to CKc and helping fund pediatric research and clinic trials. They are an organization I truly believe in....enough to sign up for a marathon which I said I would never do again :). No amount is too small and you can truly make a difference in a child's life.
thank you
