My Story:

My name is Samir Alzatmah, a student at the Faculty of Medicine at the Islamic University of Gaza, aspiring to become a distinguished neurosurgeon. I successfully completed four semesters with a cumulative GPA of 89.1%. However, my educational journey was entirely disrupted in my fifth semester due to a devastating war waged on the Gaza Strip. On the fourth day of this war, my university was completely destroyed, halting my academic progress entirely.

After ten months of displacement, mobility, and suffering from killing and destruction, continuing education in Gaza became impossible due to the destruction inflicted on the infrastructure and public facilities of the Ministries of Health and Education. During this war, our home was completely burned, leaving a significant psychological impact on me and my family.

Given the current conditions in Gaza, the most suitable option for me is to continue my studies abroad. However, the costs of education and travel constitute the main obstacle to achieving this goal. Despite the difficult circumstances I have experienced, I am determined to continue my education to achieve my dream of becoming a doctor.

Joining a university abroad will provide me with an opportunity to complete my education in a stable and safe environment. This is not only to achieve my personal dream but also to contribute to improving the healthcare system in my country, which suffers from a significant shortage of specialized medical personnel. I firmly believe that education is the most powerful weapon to face challenges, and that academic and scientific excellence is the way to build a better future for myself and the community to which I belong.

I appeal to you with this plea to support my dream of continuing my studies. Your assistance at this critical stage of my life will not only enable me to achieve my personal ambition but will also contribute to bringing about positive and sustainable change in my community, which suffers from harsh and difficult conditions. Your support for me is an investment in a brighter future for a young person who aspires to serve his community and homeland through knowledge and science.
