Solar One is New York City’s Green Energy Education Center for the future of sustainability, resiliency, and climate justice.
Founded in 2004 to manage Stuyvesant Cove Park as an education hub, Solar One quickly grew into an award-winning organization with a thriving array of programs promoting urban sustainability and environmental education.
In 2025, Solar One opened its new state-of-the-art Environmental Education Center at Stuyvesant Cove Park, expanding its capacity to serve New Yorkers of all ages and communities. Today, Solar One’s programs span all five boroughs, including K-12 education, green workforce training, technical assistance and outreach for solar development, energy efficiency engagement, and stewardship of Stuyvesant Cove Park.
Solar One is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to design and deliver innovative education, workforce training, and technical assistance in energy resources that fosters sustainability and resiliency throughout diverse urban environments.
