Meet Eric

Eric has been incarcerated for 20 years. His daughter, Sabrina, was only 28 days old when he came to prison, and he’s missed every milestone since — her first steps, first words, first day of school, even prom. “I’ve never danced with my daughter,” he says. “For her to share that moment with me will be magical.”

His life changed in prison after years of addiction. At his lowest point, Eric cried out to God in his cell. “He spoke to me,” Eric recalls. “He said, ‘If I could tell you that every word in that Bible is true, what would you do with that knowledge? Would you drop everything and follow me?’ From that moment, I knew I was in the presence of the divine.” Today, Eric is a minister who preaches and teaches the Word of God.

It’s been seven years since he last saw Sabrina in person. Now, he’s counting down to the father-daughter dance — a reunion he believes will be “something beautiful.”
