Sharing the Tools for Literacy

In the US, 48 million adults read below the 3rd grade level.

Without literacy almost nothing else matters. Help us work on this essential social justice issue.

In 2026 we plan to:

Reach more adult literacy programs. Most programs and foundations entirely lack the kind of evidence-based basic literacy curriculum we offer.  We have the tools. We want to share them!

Train more tutors! In 2024 we began running on-going training sessions. We will continue in 2025. Help us spread the knowledge! Teaching reading is not rocket science but you need training and curriculum!

Create more resources. We are constantly expanding our library of resources for adult reading students: workbooks, decodable stories, grammar and syntax work. With 48 million adults reading below the 3rd grade level, we should have vast resources at hand. But we don't. Help us change that!

Continue spreading the word. The more outreach we do, the more we find programs and inviduals who can use our resources. It is so rare for libraries and foundations and correctional facilities to offer evidence-based basic literacy tutoring for adults. Most program start at the fifth grade level and focus on GED or ESL, leaving out the millions of adults who can't read. We are working to change that.

• Launch a pilot program in a NYC correctional facility. This is in the works and should launch in the spring of 2026. We will train a team of inmate to become tutors, and then mentor them as they work with other inmates.

Your donation will help us continue this essential work.
