End of Year Campaign

On October 31, 2024, the Sanders Administration announced that the state purchased an 815-acre property for $2.950 million in Charleston, Arkansas, to build a 3,000-bed prison. The land purchase happened without community participation or transparency and marks a major step backward for Northwest Arkansas and the state at large.

Furthermore, the 95th General Assembly is fast approaching. As many of you know, the 2023 session was among the worst in recent memory and massively expanded the carceral state. We expect similar attempts in the upcoming legislative session that begins in January.

And, all of this will be happening under a Trump administration, which will only intensify and exacerbate these realities.

DecARcerate is committed to resisting all of these realities but has struggled this year to raise the grant funds and individual donations we need to complete this work. We rarely ask for financial contributions, but this marks a pivotal time in our work and an exceptional need.

We're asking for two things:
